Bartosz Kokosiński

Born in Siewierz, 1984; studied at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków; degree in painting under Professor Andrzej Bednarczyk and Dr Witold Stelmachniewicz in 2009. Scholarship from the Marshal of the Province of Silesia (2012), and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2002, 2007, 2012). In 2014, he came first (ex aequo with Ewa Juszkiewicz) in the Young Art Compass ranking; Marshal of the Silesia Province Award for young artists, Katowice (2013). Four honourable mentions in the 41st Biennale of Painting “Bielska Jesień 2013”, Galeria Bielska BWA, Bielsko-Biała:; from the jury, the editorial tems of the quarterlies Artluk and EXIT. New Art in Poland, and the portal Obieg, and further distinctions in the International Painting Competition Modessqe and the 9th Triennale of Small Painting Forms in Toruń. His pursuits are painting and representation. He is not interested in the illustrative character of the medium of painting, but in the process of creation, the physicality of the matter used for the creation of the work.

Lives and works in Warsaw.
